Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region sets up the Xinjiang Hiking Association on September 11. The association is to aim at the development of hiking in Xinjiang and providing a communication platform for the hikers. Xinjiang Hiking Association will hold the national and Xinjiang hiking races.

Yusufu Aisha, the chairman of Xinjiang Hiking Association, says,"People of all ages can attend the hiking. More and more people like hiking nowadays. The association will promote the hiking development in Xinjiang."

Xinjiang will hold the China Xinjiang International Desert Hiking Race 2009 on September 28-29 in the Kumtag Desert.
