The National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) demographic study found that 57 percent of skiers and snowboarders are now wearing helmets. The annual study, compiled from over 130,000 interviews, shows that the number of skiers and boarders wearing helmets has more than doubled since 2002-2003.
Hear are some of the NSAA’s findings from their 2009/10 study:
87 percent of children 9 years old or younger wear ski/snowboard helmets;
75 percent of children between 10 and 14 wear ski/snowboard helmets; and
70 percent of adults over the age of 65 wear ski/snowboard helmets;
This fall, the NSAA is setting out to encourage all kids 14 and under to wear ski and snowboard helmets. NSAA hopes to have them all wearing helmets by 2012.
