The Oakley Arctic Challenge announced today that it is expanding it’s slopestyle this season, and increasing the prize money to  $120,000. The event will exclusively invite 24 riders and and additional 16 riders will be invited to fill the remaining spots. Team managers can nominate their riders for the positions. Here’s some additonal information:

“TAC is waiting for the new Holmenkollen ski jumping arena to be ready for the 10/11 season. And the quarterpipe will be a TTR 5 star event until then.  This year the slopestyle is a TTR 6 star event. The prize money will be split into $70,000 dollars for slopestyle and $50,000 dollars for quarterpipe. First prize slopestyle is $30,000 dollars and first prize quarterpipe is $20,000 dollars. The Golden Oakley Time Bomb watch is still up for grabs!

TTR Top 10 riders and invited riders need to confirm their spot before September 15th. All 24 riders can bring a friend to celebrate New Years in Oslo, and TAC will cover their hotel bill. The quarterpipe contest is held in the daytime on New Years with an entertaining evening program to follow. The slopestyle finals are on the evening of January 3rd. TAC has booked Scandic Hotel Edderkoppen exclusively for event participants. Arrival day is December 28 and departure January 4th.
