At the 3rd Asia Outdoor Trade Fair in Nanjing, I met the marketing director of Northland. And very honored to interview with him. The following is the interview.

The Northland 08 Spring and Summer collections, you emphasizes on the environmental protection. And you will launch the environmental protection products in the future?

Northland: Nowadays, the environmental protection is very important, and we have to pay attention to it. Our materials are the hemp, bamboo, and coir. From the production, process and package, every step focuses on the environmental protection. Therefore, we make a series of environmental protection products, from the materials, products, package to consumption.

Northland is on sale in both outdoor store and department store, how about these two channels development now? And what about your plan in the next half year of 2008?

Northland: Now our brand is in the way of spiral development, we start from the outdoor store, then we enter into the department store. In 2008, we make the two channels balance. At present, the department store develops better. And our new plan in the next half year of 2008 is to offer different products to different stores which are suitable for them. In addition, we will develop the network sales.

Some outdoor fans have a question, the product’s network price is lower than the store’s, what about your opinion about this phenomenon? And do you have some good solutions? Thank you!

Northland: This phenomenon is very normal now because it is the individual behavior, and they do not belong to our company. Now, the competition is very strong. Different stores have different customer groups. The solution is that the price had better more reasonable and do not damage the brand’s image. The outdoor retailers take some measures to control this phenomenon.

What is your opinion about the 3rd Asia Outdoor Trade Fair in Nanjing?

Northland: This fair is the outdoor exhibition which is very professional. I think the most important is what you get from this fair.

What is your opinion about ispo China, Asia Outdoor Trade Fair and China International Sporting Goods Show?

Northland: China International Sporting Goods Show exhibition scale is very large, and there are lot of sporting goods. While ispo China and Asia Outdoor Trade Fair are the professional fairs. ispo China is held in winter and Asia Outdoor Trade Fair is held in summer. Thus, the exhibitors have the chance to show their new products, which makes the outdoor industry develop sound.

Could you please talk about the new plan in 2009?

In 2009, we have to develop our brand step by step and make more better products for the consumers. Meanwhile, we make the consumers feel our products comfort.
