It’s been another busy weekend for Mountain Rescue teams around the country, with two casualties in the last few days.

The Beeb are reporting that an experienced climber was killed in Snowdonia when he was scrambling in Cwm Cneifion in the Ogwen Valley.  A helicopter took him to Bangor hospital, with the help of the local Mountain Rescue team, but he’d fallen 90m and was dead on arrival.

The body of a hillwalker was also found on Skye, on Sgurr nan Gillean, after a search by Stornoway Coastguard and Skye MRT.

That’s all very doom and gloom, but this is just a quick reminder to stay safe on the hills, don’t forget your safety gear, and save a few coppers for the good guys in the MRT, if you have them.

Without second-guessing the cause of any accidents, it’s fair to say that it really doesn’t feel like May out there at the moment – I wouldn’t have been the one to bet against snow last weekend – so get set for the next outdoors weekend in a very fleece-lined way.
