China, Slovenia and Germany are winning gold in the Shanghai Rockmaster 2009

The first edition of the Shanghai Rockmaster was a big success. Athletes from more than 16 countries participated in this event in the Pudong Distrcit, the financial centre of Shanghai. Thousands of people watched the competition in the beautiful Lujiazui Green Land, a park surrounded by very high skyscrapers.

The Speed competition was a combination of two routes one on the 15 meter IFSC record wall and on classical format (free style) and in the qualification rounds the difference between the qualification or elimination was sometimes less than one hundreds of seconds.

For the men, ZHONG Qizin from China had the best results on both routes and took the gold medal. Yulianto ABU DZAR from Indonesia won the silver medal and CHEN Xiaojie (CHN) took the bronze medal.

For the women the first place went to HE Cuilian (CHN) and her sister HE Cuifang finished on the second place, Anna STENKOVAYA from Russia won the bronze medal.

 The lead competition also an event with the best results from two routes.

The young German climber Thomas TAUPORN surprisingly won the gold medal by having a better result in the two routes than Patxi USOBIAGA LAKUNZA (ESP) who finished on the second place and Amma SACHI (JPN) who became third.

Maja VIDMAR (SLO) won the women lead competition, Caroline CIAVALDINI (FRA) won the silver medal and Yuka KOBAYASHI from Japan won the bronze medal.
