In one of the most exciting Lead finals ever, Patxi Usobiaga tops the final route and is the winner of gold medal. Adam Ondra (CZE) becomes second, just touching the final hold. Bronze goes to David Lama (AUT).

5.000 spectators watched what maybe can called one of the most exciting and perfect Lead finals ever. In a constantly technical and inspiring route, starters climbed from high point to high point. Second last starter Patxi Usobiaga topped out in an incredible focused climbing style. Doing so, he put lots of pressure on Adam Ondra, the only one topping the semi final. The bet was clear: Doing he route means being Worldchampion, not doing second or less. Adam almost speeded up the route in less than 3 minutes arriving at the final dyno to top hold. He just failed on this move touching "the hold to glory".

Being Vice World Champion as 16 year old, is a lot you can get, there are still many titles possible.

For Patxi it was the first World Championships title after being  three times second! For him a dream came true, all people present will never forget this final.

Now the fastest Speedclimber compete in the last event of the World Championships in Xining.
